Top Three Music Albums for Kids

As a mother of two young children, my choice in music has changed significantly. These days the only type of music that I play and listen to are lullabies, jingles, soundtracks of children’s movies and fun kids songs. Our iPod is full of The Wiggles, The Muppets, Sesame Street, High School Musical and Baby Einstein albums. I have a 10-month-old daughter and 5-year-old son so it’s no surprise that our music collection includes various albums featuring fun kids songs and sing-alongs.

These are our family’s top three favorite albums:

  • Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of The Beatles: I first fell in love with the Rockabye Baby! series while shopping in giggle. The soft and soothing music was playing throughout the store and after several moments I realized that I recognized the song as “Here Comes the Sun.” I spoke with the giggle sales associate and immediately made a purchase. My daughter Gemma falls asleep every night to these lullabies softly playing beside her crib. I recently just picked up More Lullaby Renditions of The Beatles and we adore it.
  • Fitness fun for kids – Dance Club Music: Much of our family time centers around dinner. We’ll play music while I’m preparing ingredients for dinner and cooking it. My son Sebastian will help me by getting items from the fridge and cleaning produce at the sink. He’ll also be my helper while cleaning up and carrying plates from the table to the sink. One of our favorite albums to clean up to is Dance Club Music. It’s really upbeat and we have such a fun time making up silly dance moves to its diverse songs like Feel the Beat, Funky Groove Dance and Space Rock. Dance Club Music easily promotes fitness fun for kids and gets us all moving!
  • Woody’s Roundup featuring Riders in the Sky (from Toy Story 2): Who doesn’t love Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3? The Disney-Pixar film is a timeless classic. Our home seems to be full of Toy Story stuffed animals, toys, figurines and games. Woody’s Roundup completes our family’s Toy Story infatuation. The catchy tunes have a homey, nostalgic and country feel. It’s played so much that we’ve learned all of song lyrics. Every time we play this album it becomes a sing-along! Jessie The Yodelin’ Cowgirl and How Does She Yodel? are really fun songs to sing to that always bring a smile to my kids’ faces.
